Several European EN standards and International standards (IEC standards) support manufacturers, importers, distributors, testing houses and market surveillance and enforcement authorities for the determination and restriction of hazardous substances, dangerous chemicals, certain substances in Electrotechnical products (electric and electronic products).

Click on the links below to obtain information about standards on several related topics, such as:

  • the technical documentation that the manufacturer compiles in order to declare compliance with the applicable substance restrictions;
  • the technical documentation that the manufacturer needs to compile in order to declare compliance with the applicable substance restrictions (the documentation of the manufacturer’s management system is outside the scope of this European Standard);
  • the sample as the object to be processed and measured for the determination of certain substances in Electrotechnical products;
  • strategies of sampling along with the mechanical preparation of samples from electrotechnical products, electronic assemblies and electronic components;

Most of the standards listed below support the application of the Directive 2011/65/EU on the Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (recast). This Directive lays down rules on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) with a view to contributing to the protection of human health and the environment, including the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste EEE.
