This European Standard specifies the requirements related to safety, including methods of rating, and testing synthetic link chains made of man-made fibres for general purpose use to at least 100 tonnes working load limit (in straight lift) and respectively higher with two-, three-, and four-leg assemblies, with or without fittings, made of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibres; also referred to as High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) fibres.
This European Standard covers the technical requirements to minimise the hazards that may occur during the use of textile chain slings for general-purpose lifting operations when used in accordance with the instructions and specifications provided by the manufacturer or his authorised representative.
This standard does not specify the lifting of persons, potentially hazardous materials such as molten metal and acids, glass sheets,
fissile material, nuclear reactor parts and all parts of nuclear reactors and all lifting operations for which special conditions apply as well as types of chains designed for securing or lashing of cargoes to each other on pallets and platforms or in vehicles.
