Climate action standards: International Standards (ISO and IEC) and European Standards covering climate action include a set of standards to support organizations in their efforts to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goal SDG 13 'Climate action'.

See also topic: Adaptation to Climate Change / Climate Change Adaptation, Sustainable Financing.

In general terms Standards relevant for climate action should be related to one of more of the following topics such as:
- Energy efficiency, energy savings or energy recovery in any sector; o Renewable non-fossil energy
- Energy storage and 'smart grids'; low-carbon technologies, manufacturing processes, goods & services;
- Carbon capture & storage;
- Reduction of road & air traffic GHG emissions; encouraging cycling, walking & use of public transport systems, inland waterways & short sea shipping,
- Biological sequestration/conservation of CO2 emissions (e.g. afforestation, re-vegetation, forest/cropland management, reduced tillage, soil maintenance/remediation), including sinks & reservoirs of greenhouse gases (e.g. agricultural soil, peatlands, wetlands, forests, marshes, sea shore prairies, seagrass, etc);
- Elimination or substantial reductions of emissions of other greenhouse gases such as methane, N2O, PFCs, HFCs, SF6 & NF3;
- Building resilience & reducing vulnerability to climate-related disasters (heatwaves, floods, extreme weather events, etc.), covering any sector including transport, energy, supply chains, communication networks & other infrastructure, planning, insurance; risk prevention & risk/disaster management, ICT for early warning systems;
- Heat effects &/or adapting to drought, including water efficiency measures;
- Strengthening coastal defenses against erosion, storm surges & sea-level rise;
- Integration of climate change concerns in specific policy activities, developing capacity, strengthening the regulatory & policy framework; organizational management, planification of strategies, etc.
- Integration of socioeconomic issues associated with climate change options, such as behavioral patterns, societal acceptance & barriers to uptake of policies or technologies.
- Improvement of studies and research in the climate change processes &/or effects,
- Assessment of the impacts of climate change on human communities, and especially on women, including co-benefits of actions taken to reduce those impacts and just transition processes.
- Capacity building to enhance mitigation, adaptation and compliance with the rules, modalities and procedures related to compliance with the Paris Agreement
- Implementation of technical means to facilitate trading of carbon units related to the Paris Agreement, and in particular those related to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
- Financing of national plans, policies, specific plans, concrete projects and specific actions, related to the climate action
