Scope

This standard applies to handheld power tools, except for electrically driven tools, and it lists the significant hazards caused by such tools and specifies safety requirements for the tools valid for the different aspects of safety during their foreseeable lifetime and subsequent disposal. The standard also applies to handheld power tools which are mounted in a fixture without loosing their character of handheld power tools. Electric handheld power tools not dealt with in this standard.
