This European Standard specifies safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of stave splitters, designed for cutting staves from wood (?), irrespective of the nature of the power source used. In addition it specifies the type of information on safe working practices provided by the manufacturer.
This standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events relevant to wedge splitters when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer.
This standard does not deal with wedge splitters dealt with in standard EN 609-1.
Environmental aspects have not been considered in this standard.
