Scope

This document aims to define a standard for data carrier to be used for the Digital Product Passport:
- symbology characteristics,
- format,
- error correction codes,
- encoding methods,
- printing quality and production quality requirements,
- durability requirements,
- Provide indication on graphical indication for easy recognition of DPP Data Carrier
- Provide indication on the data carrier placement This standard provides overview on:
- Data Carriers and their use for DPP
- Machine readability
- Quality checking points
This standard provides guidance on:
- Data carrier to use • Machine readability,
- Checking and verifying the quality
- Links between physical product and digital representation
The following aspects are out of scope:
- Architecture and use cases
- Secure elements and any other cryptographic security features are out of the scope of this standard.
