Scope

This document specifies the principles, requirements and guidance for the design and implementation of an energy measurement and monitoring plan for an organization to maintain, improve and demonstrate its energy performance.

This document provides a framework and tool type approach for both the novice and experienced expert that can be used to support those organizations who have implemented or are implementing ISO 50001. The measurement and monitoring plan defines a measurement system for monitoring and analyzing the energy performance of an organization, taking into account its static factors and relevant variables.

This document applies to all types of energy, and energy uses. This document applies to buildings, equipment, software, processes, systems, and facilities of all sizes, complexity and types.

This document does not apply to quality management systems, customers, or products.
