This European Standard provides basic definitions, terms, symbols and abbreviations for cranes, power driven winches, power driven hoists, crane attachments, and manually controlled load manipulating devices. The terminology in this European Standard is applicable with the proviso that should there be any misalignment with the terminology in ENV 1070:1993, the latter predominates. As this is a terminology standard, it does not address any specific hazard. Hazards are covered by European Standards for specific crane types.
