This document specifies the circularity requirements for fishing gear and aquaculture equipment containing plastic. The design of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment will meet circularity objectives and take into account recyclability and reusability. The design shall also encompass innovative solutions, with regards to preventative maintenance, refurbishment and upcycling.
This document explains traceability of fishing gear components throughout their life cycle.
Central to this document is the objective to reduce the environmental impact of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment on the environment, without reduction of the product performance of fishing gear (i.e. catchability or life span).
