Scope

This standard applies to earth moving machinery and related interchangeable equipment.
This standard considers and analyzes the main risks related to the three stages of selection, installation and use.
The road circulation of the coupled base machine and interchangeable equipment on public roads and the resulting prescriptions are not subject to this standard.
This standard specifies the minimum technical features that the manufacturer of the basic machine and the manufacturer of interchangeable equipment shall make available to the operator in order to allow the safe choosing of the correct interchangeable equipment and the coupling between the basic machine and the interchangeable equipment, if they do not identify, respectively, specific models of interchangeable equipment or compatible basic machines for coupling.
This standard specifies the minimum technical features and the format to give those information through the user manual and/or appropriate messages directly on the machine.
This standard, considering the coupled basic machine and the installed interchangeable equipment, deals with the longitudinal and lateral stability, the correct visibility, the masking of the lights, the hydraulic and electric coupling and the access to the driving seat.
This standard includes the various types of basic machine and interchangeable equipment according to the main construction and usage features, analyzing jointly the various risk profiles.
The analysis of the risks of this standard does not consider all the possible combinations of basic machines and interchangeable equipment; there are cases where specific technical or operational needs may require different approaches, so the information given by the manufacturer of the machine and/or the manufacturer of the interchangeable equipment may differ from that set out in this standard. In these cases, this standard does not apply and the analysis of the risks of the coupled machine and interchangeable equipment shall be carried out by the manufacturer that provides this coupling or by those who make it.
