Agricultural and forestry machinery – Combined fire wood processors - Safety

Scope

This European Standard specifies safety requirements, and their
verification for the design and construction of firewood processors,
intended for making firewood. Firewood processor is a combined machine that cuts the processed wood either with a chain blade or with a circular saw and splits the wood with a wedge splitter.

In addition it specifies the type of information on safe working practices provided by the manufacturer.

This standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations
and hazardous events relevant to firewood processors when they are used as
intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer.

NOTE The list of significant hazards is given in Annex A.

This document is applicable for manual, semiautomatic and automatic
firewood processors.

This standard does not deal with wedge splitters dealt with in EN 609-1.

Environmental aspects have not been considered in this standard.

This European Standard is not applicable to firewood processors which are
manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN.
