This International and European Standard EN ISO 16181-1:2021 specifies a test method to determine the qualitative and quantitative presence of phthalate compounds in footwear and footwear components. The use of Phthalates in shoes and other fashion products is strictly forbidden by EU and USA legislation and leading clothing and footwear brands have stopped using phthalates in their products.
