Scope

To develop a safety standard for a draw-work based hoisting system.

This European Standard specifies general safety requirements for the design, testing and production of drawworks type hoisting systems. The requirements may be applicable for on- and off-shore applications of such machinery in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

This document deals with significant hazards, hazardous situations and events, as listed in Annex A, relevant to drawworks type hoisting systems when used as intended and under the conditions of misuse foreseeable by the manufacturer.
