Scope

After the publication of 20088-3, we are confident that ignited cryogenic scenario need to be covered by a standard. As subsequent test representing real life scenario is required. This new standard will cover the dual aspect of such release cryogenic jet and jet fire in one single setup and test protocol. Different exposure duration will be proposed in this standard such as but not limited to: Short cryogenic release (less than 5min) combine with short Jet fire (less than 5min). Short cryogenic (less than 5min) combine with long Jet Fire (more than 1h). The standard will aim to assess the material that will be used to protect the asset in direct contact with LNG in both Onshore and Offshore condition. Due to increase of combine accidental release, Part 4 is more than needed. This part will for the first time combine two different accident conditions: Cryogenic and Fire. We are confident now that test laboratories worldwide are capable to perform in a safe manner such type of tests. Combining test condition will enable the industry to fully control the transition between cryogenic exposure and fire. As per today this is not the case and current situation show major discrepancies between test lab and even between tests
