Scope

This standard describes a test method for measuring capture efficiency of a welding fume extraction device using a tracer gas technique. The method is applicable to captor hoods, such as nozzles and slots of all designs used with high volume/low velocity extraction systems. It can also be used to evaluate low volume/high velocity extraction systems such as on-gun systems used for gas shielded arc welding. It cannot be used with down-draught tables or for allied processes and welding-related operations, e.g. thermal cutting, thermal spraying and grinding. It is based on EN 1093-4.
