This European Standard specifies a test method for the volumetric determination of the demand absorbency properties of tissue paper and tissue products upon wetting with water. Specifically it measures the rate and capacity of free liquid absorption, i.e. without applying an external liquid pressure gradient. This standard has been tested for absorption rates of up to 0.35 gram of water per second and a capacity of 10 grams.
During the test, test specimens are placed on a web of fiber strings. Products that "sag" through the web, are excluded from this test.
