Safety requirements for agricultural and forestry machinery - Log splitters

Scope

This European Standard specifies safety requirements and testing for design and construction of log splitters. It describes methhods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from their use. Additionally it specifies the type of information to be provided by the manufacturer on safe working practices. Hazards may arise from: - Holding the log in the splitting zone; - Falling or turning over logs; - Windmilling logs; - Projection of split logs; - Contact with moving parts. List of significant hazards, which require action to reduce the risk, see Annexe A.
