Image quality assurance in X-ray diagnosis - Acceptance testing for image display devices prEN 50XXX

Scope

This standard describes the acceptance test procedure for image display devices - it defines which test and measuring quantities have to be used and how and with which tools the test has to be carried out. After installation of after changes that can influence the image quality such an acceptance test has to be carried out by both manufacturer and user or expert. The reference levels for the constancy test have to be fixed using the described test tools. The image quality generated by a medical imaging device and displayed on the image display device has to be reproduced by the related image documentation system. The standard applies for the display of monochrome images on image display devices that can display image information in the form of grey-scale values on display screens (e.g. CRT monitors, flat screens, projection systems), including monochrome or colour display devices used in the following medical diagnostic procedures: Computer Tomography; Magnetic Resonance Tomography; Digital Radiography; Fluoroscopy; Digital Subtraction Angiography; Sonography; Nuclear Medicine; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems - This standard references EN 61223-2-5
