Insulating barrier for safeguarding on equipment with rated voltages above 1 kV

Scope

This standard applies to insulating barriers for short-time use in electrical indoor installations with nominal voltages above 1 kV up to 30 kV a.c. and nominal frequencies below 100 Hz for partial protection against direct touching (accessibility) according to EN 50110 while working in the vicinity of live parts. This standard applies to insulating barriers which in the inserted state are allowed to restrict the danger zone according to EN 50110. They may contact live parts if the dielectric strength is ensured in the envisaged arrangement. This standard does not apply to barriers which form operative parts of the electrical installations. Insulating barriers according to this standard shall not be used as device for locking against re-connection. Insulating barriers according to this standard shall be used in prefabricated, type tested switchgear and controlgear according to IEC 466 only in consideration with the measures given by the switchgear supplier
