Scope

This standard defines funtional, mechanical and electrical characteristics and environmental resistance tests for detection equipment called detection units and detectors. This standard applies to equipment for detection of road vehicles using the principle of inductance variation of sensor caused by the presence of metallic mass of vehicle. This standard does not apply to detectors using other principles particularly those using the variation of earth magnetic field. Its scope is traffic data collection for traffic management excluding road traffic signal systems
