Scope

This European standard specifies requirements for decorative coatings made of precious metals and their alloys. It applies to coatings applied for essentially decorative purpose on jewellery and associated products. Precious metal coated products that are made by electroforming technology are concerned only if the substrate remains in the finished products, whatever the substrate nature may be.
