Scope

This document specifies requirements, recommendations and guidance for identification of assets, systems, components, locations and related information in digital information models and for labelling in built facilities, using the concepts, principles and requirements established in Part 1.
The document covers identification of object occurrences and types, system relations, building or facility and top-node relations, additional identifiers, historical identifiers, database synchronization keys, primary and secondary systems, component locations, rooms served by components, functional roles, system types, standard components, aggregation levels, syntax rules and common identification properties for information models.
It applies to organizations that specify, produce, manage, check, exchange or use information models for buildings and infrastructure assets. The document is intended to be used together with Part 1 and relevant CEN and ISO BIM standards. Software-specific implementation rules, proprietary workflows and file-format specifications are outside the core scope of this part.
