Bitumens and bituminous binders — Environmental product declarations — Complementary product category rules (c-PCR) — Part 1: Cradle to gate for bitumens

Scope

This document provides complementary product category rules (c-PCR) to EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021 for environmental product declarations (EPDs) for bitumens compliant with EN 12591 [1] and EN 13924 1 [2] and intended for use in road construction products.

The general scope of the core product category rules (PCR) is defined EN 15804:2012+A2:2019, Clause 1.
This c-PCR is primarily intended to be used for the development and issue of cradle-to-gate EPDs using specific data.

This document includes rules and requirements to:

— define the indicators to be declared, information to be provided and the way in which they are collated and reported;

— describe which stages of a product’s life cycle are considered in the EPD and which processes are to be included in the life cycle stages;

— include the rules for calculating the life cycle inventory (LCI) and the life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) underlying the EPD, including the specification of the data quality to be applied;

— include the rules for reporting additional information that is not covered by life cycle assessment (LCA) for a product.
