This standard is Part 2 of a three part series of standards defining the technical requirements for water monitoring equipment. This standard defines the performance requirements and conformity test procedures for continuous measuring devices. These devices are normally permanently installed and capable of making continuous real-time measurements in water of chemicals or physical parameters.
Continuous measuring devices are used extensively in the industrial process and water industries; and by regulators for compliance and surveillance monitoring and process control purposes. The standard supports the Industrial Emissions Directive, Marine Directive and the
Water Framework Directive.
Performance requirements and conformity test procedures cover devices that can make continuous real-time measurements in fixed positions of chemical and physical determinands in water. The list of determinands currently proposed for discussion includes: Ammonia; COD; Conductivity; Dissolved Oxygen; Free Cyanide; Nitrate; Orthophosphate; dissolved Zinc, pH; Temperature; TOC; Total Arsenic; Total Cadmium; Total Chlorine; Total Copper; Total Lead; Total Mercury; Total Nickel; Total Oxidised Nitrogen; Total Phosphorus; Turbidity
