Railway applications - Braking systems of multiple unit trains - Part 1: Requirements and definitions

Scope

This document specifies requirements for the functionality, constraints, performance, and operation of a brake system for use in self propelled trains.
This standard is not applicable for:
- trains hauled by locomotives and intended for use in fixed or predefined formation which are specified by EN 14198;
- urban rail rolling stock which is specified by EN 13452-1;
- railbound construction and maintenance machines which are specified by EN 14033-1;
- high speed trains being operated at speeds greater than 350 km/h.
