this part of prEN 14399 specifies requirements for the general dimension, tolerances, materials and performance of cepressible washer-type direct tension indicatros, nut face and bolt face washers for use in a steel-to-steel connection with high-strenght structural bolting for preloading (Systems HR and HV) conformaing to prEN 14399-3 and prEN 14339-4.
Two grades of indicator are specified, grade 8.8 and grade 10.9 for use with bolts and nuts of thread sizes M12 and M36, conforming ro preEN 14399-3 andf grade 10.9 for use with prEn 14399-4.
The indicators are intended to demonstrate the preload of at least 07. fub x As (see resolution 128 for correct formula) is achieved in the bolt and may be used either alone or with bolt gace washers or nut face washers conforming to this standard.
Guidance in the use of compressible washer-type direct tension indicator is given in annex A of this standard.
Note: Compressible washer-type directtension indicators are also known as load indicating washers.
