Scope

Development and maintenance of a Protection Profile for Secure Signature Creation Devices.
Secure Signature Creation Devices are expected to be used for the generation of electronic signatures according to the Terms of the European Directive on Electronic Signature 1999/93 and, in particular, to be suitable for the production of 'Qualified electronic signatures' that fulfill the requirements of Article 5.1 of the Electronic Signature.
The new Protection Profile shall be based on the CEN Workshop Agreement CWA 14169, expanding, when justified, its content. However, for legacy reasons, backward compatibility shall be preserved to a maximum extent.
The proposed Protection Profile shall be compatible with the Protection Profile for Identification and Authentication services and shall be consistent with other European standards developed in the framework of the European Directive 1999/93, in particular with the EN developed on the base of CWA 14890-1.
