This standard specifies a method for the assessment of the burning behaviour of all types of floor coverings in a horizontal position when exposed to a small source of ignition (methenamine tablet) under controlled laboratory conditions (see figure 1). It is emphasized that the results obtained on specimens in horizontal positions do not apply to the behaviour of the floorcoverings when used in another position.
