This type B European Standard defines technical principles and specifications and gives provision to help designers and manufacturers in achieving safety in the design of machinery (see EN 292-1:1991, 3.1) generating risks due to their mobility and/or lifting function used for other technical products having similar hazards. This standard in conjunction with EN 292 Part 1 and 2 can also assist in a preliminary assessment of mobile and lifting (also manually powered) machines with regard to their safety, where there is no relevant type C standard available. This standard does not deal with road traffic regulations.
