These guidelines describe requirements and test methods for the approval of sprinkler pumps. The type approval testing of sprinkler pumps can be carried out at the manufacturers site. Sprinkler pumps include centralfugal pumps used to deliver water in fixed sprinkler, water spray and foam systems. They are started up only in the event of fire and for periodic testing purposes. The basic requirements for sprinkler pumps shall be that they are constantly ready for use at all times and shall operate reliably.
