Scope

This standard specifies a system of vehicle identification for rail traffic. It establishes rules for the exchange of fixed or variable data between a transponder under the vehicle and an interrogator installed in the track. This standard is applicable to all railway vehicles. all AVI equipment intalled on rolling stock for international traffic must conform to this standard.
