Climate Services – Guidance for Co-production prCWA

Scope

This CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) provides guidelines to support the implementation of co-production processes in the development of climate services. Co-production processes are understood as active and sustained collaboration between climate service providers and users across relevant stages of the climate services lifecycle, involving the intentional integration of relevant knowledge and users’ needs and requirements. Additional actors such as intermediaries (e.g. consultancies or boundary organizations), and other affected or concerned groups, may also participate in co-production processes. The co-production processes addressed aim to foster mutual learning, build trust, and increase the likelihood that climate services are relevant, credible, and usable within their intended contexts of use. Climate service users are defined as organizations or individuals that use climate service outputs for multiple purposes, including analysis, planning, decision-making, reporting, communication, capacity building, or the development of other services or products. An entity may act as a user, provider, or intermediary depending on its context and role within a given climate service. In line with this understanding of co-production, these guidelines are intended to be primarily used by those responsible for implementing co-production processes, while also being relevant to all actors potentially involved in co-production processes across the climate service lifecycle.
