Scope

The purpose of this document is to provide a framework for the use of chain of custody models for inputs and outputs and associated information. This includes material, energy and emission flows.
The document applies to construction products and their use in construction works. The scope of the documents includes the identity preserved model, the segregated model, the control blending model, and the Mass Balance model rolling average percentage method (under certain circumstances).
For those chain of custody models in the scope of this document, the TS sets requirements for the implementation in EPD according to EN15804; this is in the context of the assessment of environmental performance of construction products and construction works.
The TS sets requirements on:
- the avoidance of double counting in the calculations of the LCA underlying an EPD and in the use of EPD at construction works level.
- transparent and clear reporting, and communication of any use of chain of custody models in EPD according to EN 15804 and to EN 15941.
- credibility, reliability, and transparency of reported data.
- consistency across EPD and conditions of comparison of EPD.
The document does not apply to Mass Balance credit method
