Public Transport – Open API for travel purchase interfaces (OTI) prCEN/TS 18419

Scope

The scope of the proposed work item will be:
- The context in which the CEN/TS has been elaborated, including but not limited to:
o The position of travel purchase in the experience of people searching for a multimodal journey between two locations,
o The specific position of travel purchase data flow in the data exchange required for people to digitally plan, purchase, modify, and execute their multimodal travel between at least two locations,
o The basic principles that were applied,
- The detailed use-cases of travel purchase, differentiated by the transport modes and their inherent business models used by travellers in their multimodal journey,
- The API Specification itself, i.e. the technical components required for the data exchange for purchase of travel right(s).

The functional scope of the CEN/TS will cover all modes of public transport as defined in Transmodel and the European regulation. It will also cover long-distance rail as part of a pan-European multimodal trip.
The following parts of the travellers’ experience are not in scope in this CEN/TS, as they are covered by other CEN/TS, EN and/or projects:
- Travel planning
- Creation of the travel document
- Payment as interface with bank information systems
- Access right validation
- Access right control.
- Accounting and Settlement.
