Technical Specification

Scope

EN13149 specifies data transmission between non-safety equipments installed on public transport vehicles: operational support systems, passenger information systems, fare collection systems, etc.
Equipment directly related to safety (engine, braking, door opening, etc) is excluded from the scope. Interfaces to safety-critical systems should be provided through suitable gateways.
The scope of EN13149 includes vehicles consisting of one carriage only, e.g. buses and trolleybuses, as well as a set of carriages, e.g. trams and trains.
Parts 1 to 6 (already published) describe the WORLDFIP and CANopen communication systems. Parts 7 to 9 aim to describe an IP-based communication system providing equivalent functionality.
This project will develop Part 9, which specifies the services that should be used by on board systems for publishing and consuming information on such a network, using the architecture defined in Part 7.
