Scope

This document provides guidance and recommendations for reducing the risks for crime and fear of crime and anti social behaviour against people and property in schools through the planning and design of new schools and their environs and the refurbishment
of existing school premises. The scope of this document also includes a section on security risk management as good design alone, albeit crucial to reduce opportunity for crime to a minimum, has to be supported through regular maintenance and a clear security management strategy. The scope of this document does not extend to universities or other tertiary colleges.
