The purpose of this NORDTEST Oil Spill Identification system is to establish identity or non-identity of a sample taken from a spill with samples taken from suspected sources. The system contains recommended methods for sample collection, handling and analysis. The samples in question are described by a variety of parameters. Identity or non-identity is established solely by comparing the analytical results, but any other relevant information that could identify the source should be evaluated in the report.
