This standard specifies colours and establishes a convention for their use in indicator lights and for push-buttons wherever such devices are employed - This standard is of general application from simple cases such as a single indicator light, push-button or illuminated push-button, to complicated control desks for controlling a whole process (Note: Existing and well-established colour codes for equipment may continue to be used in those cases where, even when the equipment is incorrectly operated, the equipment is incapable of causing any danger (as for example some types of telecommunication and recording equipment))
