Scope

This recommendation applies to hand-operated actuators (handwheels, handles, knobs, grips, levers, push-buttons, rods, cords, etc...) controlling electrical apparatus, such as regulating resistors, controllers and switches - An electrical apparatus so operated may comprise a complete functional unit or may be a component part of a larger assembly of electrical and non-electrical equipment, e.g., motors, electro-valves and servo-systems - Additional rules may be necessary for actuators operated by a part of the human body other than the hand, e.g. for pedals
