Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - Pre-deconstruction audit and evaluation

Scope

This Technical Report provides a common framework for conducting pre-deconstruction audits (PDA) of buildings.
It focuses on:
● Mapping the state-of-the-art of PDA-related procedures across Europe;
● Identifying convergence and divergence in audit processes, roles, and competencies;
● Structuring information requirements for the assessment, classification, and documentation of materials prior to deconstruction or renovation;
● Linking PDA data to downstream uses such as digital building logbooks.
The scope includes audits initiated in the context of:
● Complete or partial demolition,
● Major refurbishment,
● Reuse-oriented deconstruction,
● Regulatory or voluntary sustainability certifications.
