Scope

The European Standard EN 1143-1:2005 defines in clause 10 the requirements and technical type-testing criteria for attacks using core drilling equipment on safes, strongroom doors and strongroom walls. Orienting tests made on strongroom walls have shown that the defined testing criteria for strongrooms do not represent the approach of the criminals at the scene (modi operandi). Therefore, the CEN/TC 263 Working Group WG1 "Burglary Resistance" optimized the relevant requirements listed in Table 3 and the technical typetesting criteria defined in clause 10 considering the technological state of the art in conjunction with the approach of the criminals at the crime scene. The May 2007 draft for the modification of table 3 and of clause 10 of the European Standard EN 1143-1:2005 is enclosed as Annex 1. Changes and additions in comparison with the EN 1143-1:2005 are shown in "red" and are "strike-through" respectively. At present, the formal draft for the UAP (Unique Acceptance Procedure) is being prepared.
