Scope

The following standard describes relevant terms and specifies minimum requirements for equipment and installations for the destruction of information carriers. In addition, this standard establishes test methods for verifying these requirements. Equipment and installations in accordance with this standard are intended to destroy information carriers containing sensitive information in such a way that the reproduction of the information contained is either made impossible or considerably impeded.
