Scope

The Embedded FINREAD Functional Architecture and Technical Requirement distinguish three different Java platforms as being the target of the present specifications. This document describes the technical architecture and APIs for CLDC/MIDP, DVB-MHP and STIP. However according to the Embedded FINREAD Functional and Security Specifications other Java platforms compliant with Embedded FINREAD functional and security requirements may also be considered. The definition of the technical architecture and APIs for such platforms is out of the scope of these specifications.
The APIs defined in this document are application-level APIs as opposed to core libraries and system APIs referred to in the annex of this document.
The technical architecture describes the application's life-cycle, the event model, the security policy for applications, the application provisioning and key management formats and mechanisms.
The features defined in this document represent the minimum requirements to be implemented by an EFD and the maximum functionality an EFCRA may use.
