Thermal performance of building components and equipment - Calculation of the optimum economic thickness of insulating layers

Scope

General method for calculating the cost-effective thickness of insulation for technical installations etc. The method is based on the present value of the total costs (in ECU or national currencies) of investment, maintenance and use of energy. The parameters taken into account in the calculations are not only those relating to heating technology and investments, but also the service life, energy prices and changes in energy prices, interest rates and operating period.
