Welded butt joints in metallic materials - Bend tests

Scope

This standard specifies a method for making transverse root, face and side bent tests on test specimens taken form a welded butt joint in order to assess ductility and/or absence of defects on the surface in tension of the joint itself. It also gives the dimensions of the test specimen. Also this standard specifies a method for making longitudinal root and face bend tests to be used instead of transverse bend tests for heterogeneous assemblies when parent metals and/or filler metal have an effective difference in their physical properties as related to bending.
