Scope

This document describes a method for the measurement of the oxygen transfer in clean water in aeration tanks of activated sludge plants.
The method is valid for loop reactors. If the aerator distribution causes non-uniform conditions that are not sufficiently suppressed by the loop circulation velocity or other mixing mechanisms, more accurate results can be achieved by incorporating 1-D flow characteristics. This is referred to as the 1-D method.
