Scope

This document specifies bainitic steel grades for vignole rails and rails for switches and crossings. Rail profiles and other properties not defined in this standard are specified in part 1, 2 and 4 of EN 13674 series.
Three bainitic rail steel grades are specified covering a hardness range of 300 HBW to 400 HBW and include non-heat treated and heat treated alloy steels.
