Sustainable cities and communities – Industrial Symbiosis to support Sustainable Cities – Core Elements and Implementation Approaches cen:proj:82233

Scope

Industrial symbiosis is a methodology to deliver the resource efficiency needed for carbon-neutrality (particularly Scope 3 carbon reductions) and green growth. This WI will explore how cities can incorporate industrial symbiosis into circular economy action plans and strategies across departments including waste management, infrastructure, highways, planning, economic development, social housing and education to achieve their sustainability ambitions. The role of the local government in advancing this agenda may be as enabler, regulator, funder, facilitator, or as owner of resources suitable for industrial symbiosis.
