Circular Economy in the Construction Sector – Guidance for the implementation of circular design of construction products and construction works cen:proj:80728

Scope

This document gives insight in the process of circular design, both at the product and the construction level. It shows how horizontal functional circular requirements can be used for this purpose. The technical report will not propose any technical requirements, only give guidance on how to use relevant requirements from this working group or any other technical standard.
This technical report explores ways of determining lifespans of both construction products and constructions using technical requirements and possible test methods that give insight in the likelihood of an expected lifespan. Such information is required to assess the circularity of design options in relevant assessment standards, including standards under development within CEN TC350/ Sc1.
The technical report explores further design options that may contribute to fulfil the needs of circular construction that have so far been excluded from the standard on circular design because they are not yet ‘mature’ enough for standardization.
The results may be used for further standardization or for further research, but will not form a part of this document.
