CEN

CEN/TC 350 Sustainability of construction works

European Norm

Scope

This proposed work item is to define horizontal requirements for circularity parameters of virgin, reused, reclaimed and remanufactured construction products and components for integration into digital passports for construction products.
Identifying the circularity aspects is intended to support the parallel development of the coming construction digital product passport (DPP). These circularity aspects include, but are not limited to:
• future reuse scenarios
• transparency of chemical content
• leasing /take-back agreements
• references to testing (or re-testing) standards
The scope is to include the compulsory items: scope, normative references and terms and definitions. For the later, refer to and augment the anticipated standard from CEN/TC 350/SC1/WG1: Framework, Principles and Definitions.
The PWI should include a description of benefits generated by communicating circularity aspects of product level passports, including benefits to stakeholders in the value chain.
The PWI should identify and define variations of passports issued by various economic operators, and thereby identify and define circularity aspects from the perspective of a variety of different operators.
The PWI should articulate the circularity related content of the product level passports. This work should be aligned with the Eco-Design for Sustainable Product Regulation, in particular the Digital Product Passport. This work should also be aligned with the European Commission’s delegated act to establish criteria for a construction digital passport under the Construction Product Regulation. To the degree possible, the PWI should follow the results of the European Commission’s concurrent project, CIRPASS and the emerging ISO standard ISO/DIS 59040 Product Circular Data Sheet.
The PWI should address and align with product level data required for reporting under LEVELS and under the significant contribution of Circular Economy in the EU Taxonomy activities of new construction and renovation as well as the Do No Significant Harm requirements in the EU Taxonomy.
This PWI should be in alignment with on-going parallel activities in the proposed new working groups under CEN/TC 350/SC1
